Fun things to do in Valencia during the Las Fallas Festival
In March, the city will go absolute crazy for five days. If you notice even more tourists and locals in the city and the metro and hear loud noises and fireworks, it is time for the Las Fallas festival. Therefore, if you spend some time here in March, and are in search of fun things to do in Valencia, the Las Fallas festival is the perfect opportunity.
You haven’t seen anything like this! It is costumes, very large and colorful statues, and of course fireworks, which are called the Mascletà. They happen to take place every day around 2pm at the square around the town hall.
For the festival, women dress up in multiple layered, very expensive and uncomfortable dresses. Towards the end of the big fiesta, they offer flowers to the Virgin Mary, who is presented by a huge wooden statue displayed in the city center. At the very end, all those neatly decorated, very pricey statues are burnt by their creators, who then start to do it all over again for the next year!

And if you get hungry from doing all these exhausting activities, you don’t have to walk far. The beach is bordered by many different restaurants offering all kinds of food.
Discover Valencia’s surrounding from horseback
Riding is just sitting on a horse? Well, if you think that you are severely mistaken! A horse is not a train or a bus that brings you to your destination while you just lay back and relax. This doesn’t mean that riding isn’t relaxing. The more skills you have, the more reward you will get from your horse. And remember, each horse is unique and will react differently to its rider.
If you want to experience this really challenging but fun sport, you don’t have to travel far from Valencia. There are some riding schools and horse stables in the vicinity that offer riding lessons and horseback tours. The Centre Equestre Pataques is only fifteen minutes by car from Valencia city center. They offer all kinds of riding lessons, beginners and advanced riders will find what they searched for. Furthermore, the school offers the typical Spanish way of riding, Doma Vaquera and Alta Escuela, which derive from the work with the cattle.
If you feel more like experiencing nature from horseback, you can travel to Vilamarxant, which is only thirty minutes away from Valencia. After a short introductory riding lesson, you can go on a hike tour and enjoy the landscape. They even provide a free photo session, so you don’t have to think of doing selfies while handling your horse!
But when it comes to fun things in Valencia, riding on the beach is really unbeatable! If you want to ride the waves, you have to try out Gandia beach. The ranch Los Roblos offers beach rides you will never forget!
